>Tools
Both Tinkers Construct and Tetra are included in the pack, and both are great options for tools. Tetra is best at the very beginning due to the ability to quickly modify and repair vanilla tools. Later on, the Smeltry or Foundry from Tinkers can be used in ore processing to get double the ore and potential side products.
>Skyfall Crates
Skyfall crates are random loot crates that fall around the map on a specified interval. The loot pool needs to be set up by the server operator, but is often worth getting.
>Weapons
Guns
Point Blank adds many different types of guns into the game. There are many ammo types, but no magazines, so you can reload your guns directly as long as you have ammo. Some guns come with attachments, but individual attachments can be crafted and equipped to meet your needs. Everything Point Blank related can be crafted with the Weapon Printer.
Explosives
There are a few key explosive types that can be used when attacking:
- C4 - Causes a small explosion after a short delay.
- Obsidian C4 - Blows up the block it is placed on.
- Artillery - Throwing down an artillery smoke bomb causes an artillery barage to be fired from the distance at that location, typically consisting of a volley of large explosive rounds depending on the type of artillery smoke bomb thrown.
>Vehicles
Cars
Cars (and trucks and bikes) don't require fuel, and can be used to easily traverse relatively flat areas at high speeds with multiple passengers. They also have an internal inventory for transporting items across a long distance. They can be dyed to match your team colors.
Aircraft
Planes and Helicopters can be constructed using any wood type and propellers at Plane Workbench, larger aircraft requiring more propellers. Upgrades, such as engines, armor, etc., can be attached by right clicking the vehicle (placed) with the upgrade.
>Tech
Power
The basis of any tech is power. For electrical power, a basic Extreme Reactor can be built relatively early which runs on Yellorium (or U238 from GregTech). Yellorite ore can be found in large veins of up to 15 with a max of one vein per chunk. RF to EU converters are enabled in the pack, and so you can convert Forge Energy directly into GregTech energy for use in GregTech's power system.
AE2
The standard AE2 tech progression is mostly unchanged, except for the changes to WHERE Certus Quartz is found. Certus Quartz itself , thanks to GregTech, is found in large veins in the nether.
GregTech
While GregTech isn't required for anything, it can have many benefits. The following is a collection of GregTech stuff that is useful specifically to this modpack:
- Steam Generation - Using a Primitive Pump you can create an infinite water source. This can be piped into any of the early game boilers, creating steam. This can then be piped into machines, drums for storage, or Ender Tanks for long range transport.
- Miner - Available at low pressure steam, and scaling in usefullness across tiers, a miner, when powered, will start drilling downwards, collecting any within its radius that are beneath it in its inventory, which can be piped back to your storage. Setting up a few of these to run remotely can be useful in collecting lots of ore fast.
- Tinkers Integration - GregTech makes producing various metals and their components very difficult, however, most metals can be melted in a smeltry/foundry and then cast into various shapes, skipping a lot of those complicated steps! This includes Aluminum, a very difficult material in standard GregTech.
- Wrought Iron - Early game Wrought Iron production is done by smelting Iron Nuggets into Wrought Iron Nuggets and then throwing those into a smeltry to be cast into the desired shape.
- Steel - Your first steel is produced by the Primative Blast Furnace multiblock, which slowly turns iron and carbon into steel. For a carbon source, you can use coal/charcoal, or more efficiently, use Coke from the Coke Oven multiblock.
- Ore Generation - ores are found in massive veins, each vein containing a few different but related types of ore. These can be found by digging, inspecting dusts on the surface, or using an Ore Prospector. If you want to find out which types of veins contain the types of metals you want, there are two different methods, I would recommend doing both methods to find the easiest way to obtain the resource:
- Find the raw version of the material you want and look at the recipes in EMI. Then click on the Ore Vein Diagram tab to find the vein that contains it.
- Find the primary version of the material you want (ex. dust for redstone, ingot for iron, etc.), and look at it's recipes in EMI. Then click on the Ore Processing Diagram tab and look at the various pages to find the various ores and raw ores from which the material you want can be extracted (ex. iron ingot from goethite, pyrite, limonite, hematite, iron, magnetite, etc.). Then look at the recipes for the raw version of these ores and click on the Ore Vein Diagram tab to find the vein that contains it.
- General Machines - There are many instances of there being cheaper versions of recipes in GregTech machines, a lot of them being available during the steam age, and only a couple requiring LV machines.
>Objective
When you're done building your base, place a Flag Checker down wherever you want your beacon to be, and place the Bismuth Beacon on top. Be careful not to break the Bismuth Beacon without using Bismuth Wire Cutters. Once this is done, write a message in the Flag Checker either declaring your loss or the other team's victory. Then before the war, arm the Flag Checker so that the message is played upon the destruction of your beacon.
