Capture the Beacon: Season 4

Description

This season is where things got interesting! Jumping to an 8v8 format, still capture the flag, but with a larger emphesis on base building and technology. The game was also split into multiple battles (an experiemnt that *was* going to be carried out in Season 3 but that didn't pan out as the server didn't last until the second battle. The first battle took place away from the main bases of the teams, in "War Bases" which were shoddily constructed outposts. Each team spent about a week stockpiling guns and amunition, shipped it to their outposts, and then the battle took place there. The second battle however took place directly between the main bases, meaning all of the leftover tech and ammunition from the war bases needed to be salvaged in high stakes extraction missions (to avoid the other team who was also salvaging things from the wreckage). Main bases were built into fortresses, citadels if you will, with miles of underground tunnels and bunkers, high walls, and thousands of ingots worth of iron and steel spent on blast doors. The final battle was... Something. Both main bases, although impressive, were multiple kilometers apart, and any attack couldn't be followed up on because of the extreme travel times, wherein most of the soldier's time was spend in a helicopter traveling to the front lines. At least they got to ride in MCHELI vehicles! (Not really, the 1.12.2 port was still very buggy at the time, and they barely worked). The other side effect of impressive bases was difficult security. After hours of warfare, both beacons still remained safe in vaults deep in their respective complexes. The server lasted a total of 2 months.
