History

The teams were roughly the same as in season 4, and upon the start of the server they split north and south. The south team settled into a village in a dark oak forest, building a series of smaller structures spread out over the area. The north team settled in an acacia village, utilizing a few buildings before digging a bunker into a hill next to the village. Both of these locations would serve as the main settlements of each team as they slowly build and developed technologies. However, the south team's base was unorganized and lacked security, while the north team's base was too small for their growing needs. The south team's base was gutted and a large walled fortress was built on top of a mountain on a peninsula, with clear views on the water on one side, and flat barren land on the other. The north team took out whatever they thought was useful from their base, and then blew up the entire hill on their way out. They went farther north, digging into a mesa, building a complete underground facility, inspired by Black Mesa similar to season 2. They also built multiple buildings above ground, a runway and hangars. It was then that the north team started collecting rare valkyrien shard ores, which could be refined in a complicated chemical process into electronium. This allowed them to craft a digital miner from mekanism, netting them an almost infinite resource supply. The south team constructed more buildings, fortifying their base, and eventually also making a factory for producing electronium and crafting a digital miner. The north team pressed their advantage, creating a nuclear fusion reactor to provide power to their base, as well as creating extra infrastructure for processing materials. However this lead didn't last forever, as preparations needed to be made for the first war. The war was set to take place on the spawn island, with both teams making bases on the east and west side. The north team build in a jungle on the west side of the island, creating an outpost there, and building farther and farther underground. The south team built on the east side of the island, creating a large perimeter wall, filling the surrounding areas with landmines, and constructing multiple buildings and hollowing out a large quarry with the entrance to their inner base. The north team built deeper, making a series of hallways and rooms, each separated by heavy blast doors. When the war began, it ended. No seriously, the entire thing lasted like 5 minutes. The reason for this was because the south team had discovered an exploit which allowed them to burrow into the ocean floor right above where the north team's tunnels ran, quickly infiltrating and destroying the north team's beacon. This event triggered a large audit into the legality of the tactics used by the south team, to which there was debate. Although rules were technically violated, there were loopholes depending on how the rules were interpreted. In the end, the win for the south team was determined legal, however the results of the investigation were crucial in designing future seasons. The conclusion of the audit was that the disconnect between the creative vision of the server, the rules, the interpretation of the rules, and the realities of the events were unfixable unless structural changes were made. Beyond the war, this season also featured a base design competition between the teams. Screenshots and design documents were submitted to an anonymous third party judge who returned results based on ascetics and strategy of the designs of the bases. There were 50 points split across judgement categories, the north team scored 32 points, and the south team scored 18 points. This was the only season to feature a competition like this.
